Punjab Education Foundation (PEF): PEF is starting 30 Cholistan mobile and 47 formal community schools in Cholistan PEF started its teacher training program for 1488 teachers from 342 schools of 30 districts The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) is expanding its operation in Cholistan area by opening 30 Cholistan mobile schools and 47 formal community schools, amid supporting already functional 10 Cholistan mobile schools under the same initiative. For this expansion phase applicants are invited from Tehsil Liaqat Pur, Khan Pur (Rahim Yar Khan), Tehsil Fortabaas (Bhawalnagar) and Mandi Yazman (Bahawalpur). The PEF assistance aims at providing quality education to students in this remote area. Managing Director PEF Tariq Mahmud said this while presiding over a departmental coordination meeting at his office. Different directors/officials of PEF programs attended the meeting. The foundation is committed to spread the light of knowledge in nook and corner of the province and it is satisfying that PEF is playing a leading role in education-promotion in the southern Punjab districts. He said that mobile schooling project for nomad communities of Cholistan will provide free quality education and books to destitute children without burdening their parents of any financial cost. Addressing the meeting M.D further said that PEF has started its teacher’s development training program for the academic year 2017-18. Under this initiative PEF will train 1488 teachers from 342 PEF partner schools of 30 districts. Training schedule is kicked off with a target of 54 trainings during the current month. The training program is aimed to sensitize the partner schools’ teachers and head teachers about latest concepts of teaching and education so that they could perform better. It would also help the schools to maintain their scholastic respectability, he added. PEF spokesperson said that, master trainers from Continuous Professional Development Program (CPDP) will impart these trainings. PEF believes that a teacher adept with latest pedagogy is imperative to quality education. So PEF is very keen in training teachers who are employed at its partner schools across Punjab and improving their skills and knowledge is one of the most important investments that the foundation had made in education sector. PEF spokesperson further added that, Punjab Education Foundation has taken a number of innovative steps to ensure quality schooling facilities for the students so that they could be developed as self confident and forward looking youth.
