LAHORE, April 12:

                   Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Punjab government will provide best, rapid, modern and organized system of public transport to the masses in the shape of metro bus service which will help resolve traffic and travelling problems. He said that public transport is being made comfortable for the people by organizing it on modern lines so that the commuters could reach their destination on time. He said that transport system is an identity of cities and metro bus service will give a new identity to historical city Lahore. He said that common man will specially benefit from this service in connection with travelling.

                   He was presiding over a meeting held to review the progress of the metro bus service project, here today. Chairman Planning and Development, Secretary Transport, DG LDA and representatives of concerned departments also attended the meeting.

                   Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that metro bus service is very important and a unique project in the 64 years’ history of Pakistan through which speedy, comfortable, organized and economical public transport will be available to the commuters. He said that metro bus service especially be beneficial for the students disabled, elders and women. He said that most modern air conditioned buses having doors on both sides will be plied for metro bus service. He said that the stops of metro bus service have also specially been designed.

                   Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif also expressed his satisfaction that besides launching of metro bus service, an intelligent transport system will also be introduced in Lahore. He said that immediate help would also be provided to the people through this modern system besides controlling the traffic of Lahore. Various technical matters of metro bus service were also discussed in detail on this occasion.
