LAHORE, November 26:
The Quality Assurance Test (QAT) of 100 schools partnered with the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) under Education Voucher Scheme (EVS) in Lahore and Rawalpindi districts will be held on November 30.
According to the PEF spokesman, all arrangements have been finalized to hold 8th QAT of 64 EVS partner schools in Lahore and preliminary QAT of 26 EVS schools in Rawalpindi. A control room has been setup at PEF-ADU to monitor the QAT, he added.
This exam will be taken by National Testing Service (NTS) to ensure transparency and impartiality, the spokesman concluded.

According to the notification issued by Schools Education Department Punjab, all public and private schools will remain open for six days in a week from November 22, 2010 and only Sunday will be the weekly holiday. However, there will be no change in the schedule of examinations being held at schools level in the province. According to the notification, office timings of administrative offices of Schools Education Department from Monday to Thursday and Saturday will be from 8 am to 3 pm and on Friday from 8 am to 12 noon. Chairman Punjab Education Foundation Raja Muhammad Anwar has said that keeping in view past regime’s mislaid policy of setting up new schools without fulfilling basic requirements including availability of teachers, Science labs, library, furniture or clean drinking water & toilet, the Punjab government has decided to handover new schools to the School Education Department with all basic amenities so that quality education could be ensured there. Government is committed to make public sector schools a symbol of excellence in education.
He was addressing the concluding session of ‘Iqbal Day’ celebrations at Government High School Township on Friday.
In his address, Raja Anwar said that school education is the fundamental tier of the whole educational structure which strengthens other tiers as well. However, in the past, this important tier was badly ignored. He said that provincial government has decided to provide separate class room for every class in primary schools. This will help to provide congenial atmosphere to the budding students, he hoped. He said that education and healthcare are two important priorities of the Punjab Chief Minister because no nation can progress without quality provision of these two things.
Punjab government is committed to provide quality education to the poor children and Danish School system will prove ‘Eton of the East.’
Raja Anwar said that students should get guidance and lesson of optimism from the poetry of poet philosopher Allama Iqbal who is a symbol of hope for all the nations of the world.
The function was also addressed by senior headmaster Mudassar Hussain, Mian Naeem, Dr. Muhammad Nasir and others. Later, Raja Anwar presented certificates to the students showing exemplary performance in different events.

Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the students of Balochistan studying in Punjab will play the role of such a bridge as will not only remove misunderstandings between the two provinces but will also enhance mutual love and understanding. He said that the students of Balochistan studying in various institutions of Punjab are ambassadors of Punjab and Pakistan and should take with them message of peace and love and inform the people and students of Balochistan about the love and affection received from Punjab. Chief Minister also announced to double the quota of students of Balochistan studying in various educational institutions of Punjab from Punjab Educational Endowment Fund and Cheema Long Scheme.
He was addressing a function held in honour of students of Balochistan studying in various educational institutions of Punjab. Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raeesani, Senior Advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, provincial ministers of Balochistan and Punjab, leaders of Balochistan Muslim League Sardar Yaqub Khan Nasir, Nawabzada Changez Khan Mari, members of national and provincial assemblies, intellectuals, columnists, teachers and a large number of students attended the function.
Addressing the function, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that he is thankful to Chief Minister Balochistan who came Lahore today for this function and it is a pleasant incident that this function is being held in the same hall where four provinces had agreed upon NFC Award a few months ago and the Lahore and Punjab had the honour of achieving unanimity on this historic award. He said that Balochistan is a big province and its resources are limited. He said that we are proud of the sacrifice of nine crore people of Punjab and government given in NFC Award for meeting the needs of their Baloch brethren. This step has not only enhanced the image and unity of Pakistan but those enemies of Pakistan were also disappointed who were of the view that the provinces will not achieve consensus on this award. He said that the NFC Award was achieved keeping in view the mutual relations of love and this is a big achievement of the history and reward of Almighty Allah. He said this is also a good omen that Baloch, Pakhtoon, Barohi and Punjabi students are getting education together in the best institutions of Punjab which has provided them an opportunity to remove the doubts and misunderstandings by sitting together like brothers and this is a great victory. He said that we had sent the position holder students on study tour of Europe which included students of four provinces and Azad Kashmir and it is a milestone for enhancing the image and solidarity of Pakistan. He said that Punjab Educational Endowment Fund is playing a historic role for providing educational opportunities to the talented students and the efforts of Vice Chairman of this Fund Dr. Amjad Saqib are commendable. He said that the number of male and female students of Balochistan studying in various institutions of Punjab is being doubled through this Fund whereas the number of children studying under Cheema Long Scheme is also being increased from 104 to 208.
Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that the Punjabis living in Balochistan are brothers of their Baloch countrymen. He said that the Chief Minister Balochistan is himself disturbed over the loss of lives of innocent people in Balochistan. He said that the students studying in Punjab will play an important role for promotion of love and harmony between two provinces and these relations of love will further strengthen between two provinces through education from educational institutions of Punjab. He said that Chief Minister Balochistan has informed him that the situation in Balochistan is improving. He said that some complaints of Baloch youth are genuine. He said our party has announced that we will sit together and listen these complaints patiently and will also address these complaints. He said that we were shocked over the murder of Baloch leader Nawab Muhammad Akbar Bugti and our party raised this issue that the murderers of Bugti should be exposed and be given deterrent punishment as per law. He said that Punjab is establishing a modern hospital of cardiology in Quetta and Rs.one billion has been allocated this year for this purpose. He said that doctors and paramedical staff will also be imparted training for this hospital.
Addressing the function, Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Khan Raeesani said that it is imperative to inform the young generation about latest knowledge and changing trends for moulding Pakistan in accordance with the ideals of Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam. He said that education is such a weapon as can put the country on the road to progress and prosperity. He said that effective steps are being taken for promotion of education in Balochistan and recruitment of 4000 Baloch youth in Pak Army is a matter of pride. He also thanked Chief Minister Punjab for increasing the seats for the students of Balochistan in educational institutions of Punjab. He advised the students to concentrate on their education and by equipping themselves with modern knowledge they can make their future bright. Education Minister of Balochistan Tahir Mahmood Khan also addressed the function. Senior Advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa in his welcome address welcomed Chief Minister and ministers of Balochistan on behalf of Punjab. According to the spokesman of the Punjab Education Foundation, the QAT has so far been held in as many as 1080 schools partnered with the Punjab Education Foundation under its Foundation Assisted Schools program.
The spokesman added that the QAT will be held in 190 schools of three Tehsils of Multan today (Thursday). The QAT activity will conclude on November 15, the spokesman concluded.

the province and are currently on a visit to Lahore on the invitation
of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.

said that Punjab government has the honour of having taken practical
steps for promotion of national solidarity through education by

He announced that students from Balochistan will be given admission in
more educational institutions in Punjab next year so that they could
play their due role in the development of their province as well as
the country. Raja Anwar said that Punjab Educational Foundation will
start projects in Balochistan and provide educational facilities to
about five thousand children. Muslim League leader Yaqoob Khan said
that Chief Minister Punjab has won the hearts of people of Balochistan
by starting welfare projects in the province. He advised the Balochi
students to work hard and play an active role for economic development
of the country after getting higher education. Earlier, the students
visited Wahga Border and also Mazar Allama Iqbal to pay homage to the
national poet.

The conduction of 10th Quality Assurance Test (QAT) of the Foundation Assisted Schools (FAS) partnered with the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has been completed in 834 schools situated in 10 different districts.
This was stated by a spokesman of the Punjab Education Foundation in a statement issued here on Tuesday.
According to the spokesman, starting from Nov.3rd, QAT has so far been held in Okara, Pakpattan, Vehari, Lahore, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Lodhran, DG Khan, Rajanpur and RY Khan districts; while it will be held in 193 partner schools in Muzaffargarh district today(Nov. 10).
It may be added here that there are 1779 partner schools under FAS program in 29 districts but QAT is not being held in flood-affected schools.

The Punjab Education Foundation has set up a central control room at head office to monitor and organize the field activities of 10th Quality Assurance Test (QAT) of schools partnered under Foundation Assisted Schools (FAS) program.
PEF spokesman stated this, in a statement issued here today.
According to the spokesman, the control room will work under Ms. Huma Rizvi, Project Officer (ADU). She will be assisted by Zia uddin Butt Project Officer, Ms. Ayesha Siraj Subject Specialist, Ms. Sadia Rafique Project Assistant and Ms. Kinza Aslam Data Processor.
This control room will work till November 15, 2010, the spokesman concluded.

According to the spokesman, the control room will work under Ms. Huma Rizvi, Project Officer (ADU). She will be assisted by Zia uddin Butt Project Officer, Ms. Ayesha Siraj Subject Specialist, Ms. Sadia Rafique Project Assistant and Ms. Kinza Aslam Data Processor.
This control room will work till November 15, 2010, the spokesman concluded.

10th FAS-QAT from Nov.3rd

LAHORE, 2nd Nov.:
10th Quality Assurance Test (QAT) of Punjab Education Foundation’s Foundation Assisted Schools (FAS) has started from today (Nov.3rd) in Punjab.According to the PEF spokesman, QAT has today commenced from Lahore, Pakpattan, Okara, Vehari and will conclude on Nov. 15. The PEF has assigned duties to its staff for the conduction of the test. This test is being held in 84 Tehsils of 29 districts in Punjab. However, the QAT will not be held in flood-affected partner schools, the spokesman maintained.According to the spokesman, biannually held QAT is a strong determinant of partner schools’ didactic performance which is aimed to ensure the quality of education in partner institutions.Foundation Assisted Schools (FAS) is the flagship programme of the Punjab Education Foundation which is serving the poor children to get free education, the spokesman concluded.
